Senator Frederica Wilson receives coveted endorsement:
Florida AFL-CIO backs Wilson
Miami Gardens - Last week at the Florida AFL-CIO endorsing convention, the state's largest labor organization with more than 400,000 members gave its full endorsement to State Senator Frederica Wilson.
"Throughout my career, I've stood with Florida's working families, fighting for higher wages, better health care and job security," said Senator Wilson. "I am proud to have the support of the Florida AFL-CIO, and I look forward to working with them and Florida's families when I am in Congress."
With less than three months left before the primary election, the AFL-CIO endorsement strengthens Wilson's position as the frontrunner in Florida Congressional District 17, and confirms earlier polling commissioned by the AFL-CIO (March 16, 2010 poll by SEA) that shows Wilson well out-distancing her opponents.
Wilson continued, "I've worked with and represented the families of this Congressional District for decades. We know each other and trust each other. I have always put the interests of Florida's working families first, and I will continue to stand with them when I am in Washington."
