Wilson: The clear front runner
Although the Democratic primary to replace Kendrick Meek is still in the formative
stage, this survey shows that one candidate stands above the others and has a
chance to put this race away in the early stages.
Frederica Wilson is the only candidate with total name recognition over fifty
percent. Her positive name identification of 57% rivals sitting congressmen.
Her job performance as state senator at 61 to 7 percent is almost ten to one is
equally impressive.

ST. PETERSBURG TIMES - Jeb Bush moved out of the Florida Governor's Mansion three years ago. But when it comes to school reform, it's like he never left. • His prickly, pushy spirit continues to guide Republicans and haunt Democrats. And this year, it will rattle the Capitol with a vengeance.
"He's very much alive and well," said Sen. Frederica Wilson, D-Miami. "He's the magician behind the whole (agenda) of chipping away at public education."

Statement from Florida Senator Frederica S. Wilson
Regarding the Earthquake in Haiti
January 12 – As the State Senator for Florida District 33 in Miami where we represent hundreds of Haitian immigrants whose families are suffering today as the result of a major catastrophic earthquake, I call upon the citizens to pray for the victims of this catastrophe – this disaster which has occurred in Haiti.
I ask for the help of citizens in gathering supplies and much needed aid to the Nation of Haiti.
I am especially concerned about the children and young people, their safety and education which may be interrupted and their futures curtailed.
I call upon the Obama administration and the State Department to urgently respond to the needs of the families in Haiti who are just beginning to recover from four back-to-back major storms.
Haiti is one of the poorest nations in the Western Hemisphere and its infrastructure is fragile, at best.
We will be asking local merchants, major businesses and citizens to assist in joining forces with the American Red Cross and Save the Children organizations to help the families affected by this catastrophic event. We particularly appeal to businesses heavily patronized by residents of District 33 in the northern areas of Miami-Dade County.
On behalf of the residents of District 33, we extend out heartfelt compassion to all of Haiti, to children who may be separated from their families, and mothers separated from their children. We pray for their unification.
For those who have suffered the loss of a love one, we pray for your strength and fortitude, as you unite in solidarity to face the hardship of this catastrophic event brought upon your country.
May God bless your people. May God bless the Nation of Haiti.

In a political universe dominated by men in dark suits, Sen. Wilson is the rainbow that cannot be ignored.
She walks the halls of the Capitol flashing her custom-made, bedazzled cowboy hats and perfectly matched suits — her own runway of eye-popping colors that are more suited to the Miami district she represents than to good ol' boy Tallahassee.
Here in the center of Florida's political universe, the loud wardrobe of the educator-turned-Democratic lawmaker sends a clear if unspoken message to fellow lawmakers: I am here. And attention will be paid.
